Dear
friends:
 |
2008
second quarter has been an eventful year for NGF. We have started
many activities here with the local communities. We have also been
published in a leading Boston daily-Boston Globe. This article has
gathered a lot of attention for us. Please find links to the article
in our website. NGF members are also trying to involve themselves
with local schools and volunteer their time and resource towards
education and other activities.
NGF
in USA
Big
Read cultural festival
We
participated in the BIG READ cultural festival, organized by the
Shrewsbury's
|
|
Public
Library in the month of April. This project honored the immigrant
experience in readings, dramatic performances, book and film discussions,
workshops in genealogy research, memoir writing and storytelling.NGF
put up an information booth and also participated in various activities
such as Language program, martial arts presentation and a solo dance
performance.
Peo
Nathan, President of NGF USA, brought his Taekwondo School (Jeong's
USTC) demo team for a stunning performance of Korean martial art
Taekwondo demonstrating various defending techniques and breaking
boards.

Christina
Nirmala Nathan participated in the Language presentation program.
She presented her mother tongue Tamil, and taught the audience how
to say Library and Book in Tamil. Here is what she has to say about
this festival: "The Cultural Festival held in conjunction
with the Big Read Project by the Shrewsbury Public Library was a
depiction of the various cultures that make up the new American
Culture. It was a beautiful portrayal of the more recent immigrant
population, their own version of the "American Apple Pie"
and the metamorphosis of their culture as they settled here in the
States. It was a wonderful, informative program."
|
We also had
a wonderful Bharatanatyam performance Savithri by Amudha Pazhanisamy,
one of Ms.Ranjini Saigal's
|
students,
from her Eastern Rhythms dance school.
Marathon
Team
NGF
is also trying to form a marathon running team. Lori Berkey is the
inspiration and driving force behind this. She is also the chair
of the Marathon committee. The idea behind this endeavor is to engage
people in a team-oriented, healthy activity for fundraising that
requires discipline and perseverance as a parallel to the team work,
discipline and perseverance required of those who journey with NGF
to achieve their mission. For more information on this and to download
a participant brochure, please go to our website or email us at:

NGF
in India
NIRC-National
Integrity and Responsibility Complex
2008
was also very eventful for our India chapter as we started the first
phase of construction for the NIRC project in Devrukh, Maharashtra.
Sadanand Bhagwat, who heads the India chapters, has worked tirelessly
to start this project. The stone laying ceremony went off really
well with 125 people attending the event. The vision behind the
NIRC project has drawn a lot of interest from people of several
walks of life. The goodwill generated will enable us to be ready
for the first 10 students, who will be joining and attending this
residential school in 2009. As the project continues to grow, we
will be having more children joining us and by the end of this project
we will house and school 500 orphan and underprivileged children
from all across India.

Health
Camp in Devrukh
 |
April
13th in Devrukh was a very important and fulfilling day. From 9 am
until 9 pm, NGF had organized a health camp with the kind help of
Dr.Marjorie Curran and Dr.Tom Ptak. Dr. Marjorie Curran is a primary
care pediatrician at Mass General Hospital for Children. She is the
Director of Pediatric Urgent Care and also serves as a Hospitalist
on the in-patient pediatric service. Marjie is an instructor at Harvard
Medical School. |
| They
treated and vaccinated about 180 children ranging anywhere from between
a newborn child to a 16 year old child. Medicines worth over $5000
were donated by Dr.Marjorie Curran and Dr.Tom Ptak. Their participation
as a family in this noble cause along with their children Alex, Chris
and Luke told the story of the American spirit to share and serve
humanity. Several goodwilled local community volunteers offered their
support towards this medical camp including Mr. P.V.Pitre and others.
Dr. Thomas Ptak is a neuroradiologist who works in the Emergency Ward
at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is a member of the International
Medical/Surgical Urgent Response Team which responds to disasters
across the globe. |

Isn't it

just their money, but also their ideas, thoughts and emotions. We are
grateful to all our members and our patrons for supporting us.
Next Generation
Foundation (NGF) is a registered socio-charitable organization striving
