Ganesh Davuluri, Public Relations Director
Shrewsbury,
MA
January 2nd, 2008
Next
Generation Foundation (NGF - http://www.nextgenfoundation.org), the premier
Indian charity organization in the Boston area, is pleased to announce
the nomination of Vidya Vasudevan to the role of the Executive Director.
This signifies an effort by NGF to reposition itself as a full fledged
non-profit organization and reestablish a sustainable means of funds,
leadership and volunteer base to ensure continued success in the long
term.
Co-founder of SolveIT
Inc., an IT services firm based out of Westborough, MA, Vidya now serves
as the president of that firm. She holds a Master's in Communication from
the University of Madras, Chennai. "We have great confidence in Vidya's
leadership," says Peo Nathan, co-founder and President/Chairman of
the board at NGF. "Her talent and personal qualities, as well as
her experience and knowledge in building up a successful business will
allow for a great opportunity for NGF to reach the next level, and her
vision will set the stage for a strong future."
"NGF is committed
to fostering a high level of diversity within the organization. To reflect
that commitment, the management team now represents energetic people from
diverse regional and religious backgrounds, representing a diverse India",
says Peo Nathan.
In her role as the
Executive Director of NGF, Vidya will lead the NGF team to bolster the
support towards the three major initiatives of NGF - the NIRC project,
the Dharma Yuga project and the Thrive Project.
The "National
Integrity and Responsibility Complex" (NIRC) is a residential educational
facility for orphan children. The project aims to cross the social barriers
of discrimination to provide the "best education" by enrolling
50 orphan children excelling in education every year reaching 500 in strength
over a period of time at any given academic year. These children of God
between 8-10 years of age during enrollment who'd otherwise be destined
to very basic or no education will be trained to excel in various professional
careers, while being provided free accommodation and other facilities
to foster discipline and nurture life skills and ensure all round personality
development. The project also hopes to build a "virtuous cycle"
of these children feeding back into the project once they start successful
careers in the future.
The Dharma Yuga project
is a self-sustaining program of "Kids Supporting Kids" in cities
across several states in India. In Sanskrit "Dharma" means right
action among other things and also came to be known as giving or charity
and "Yuga" means yoke, team or pair. In this program, privileged
children would support one or more underprivileged children locally. The
seed money needed to launch one unit of this project in a city in India
that would result in the support of 1000 children and make the project
self-sustaining would cost around $8000 in the first year. This is similar
to Social Entrepreneurship model except everything in this project is
geared towards addressing the social need of supporting underprivileged
children.
Monalisa Patnaik,
a director on the board, continues to coordinate the very successful 'Thrive'
project in Orissa that works to provide access to primary education, basic
healthcare and sustainable economic development to rural villages in India.
"NGF now has
hired CPA services from Griffin and Company PC, Worcester, MA to handle
all the accounting and auditing. We now also have a merchant banking account
with the Bank of America to support credit card processing and direct
ACH transfers. This streamlines our accounting processes and brings in
a lot of transparency into the financial management of our 501(c)(3) registered
non-profit organization", commented Naveed Deshmukh, Treasurer of
NGF. "All
contributions to NGF are completely tax deductible and 100% of the funds
collected go towards supporting our charitable causes. All of our officers
and advisors are volunteers".
NGF has a very active
ground team of volunteers in various locations across India including:
Devrukh, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra, Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Bhubaneswar
in Orissa and Chennai in Tamilnadu. The India team is coordinated by Sadanand
Bhagwat - President and Chairman of NGF India - who left his successful
career in the USA to go to India and work full time towards NGF's activities.
Joseph Jerome and Salil Makoday act as Trustees of NGF India, after retiring
from highly successful corporate careers.
NGF is committed to
serve the local community of the country where its members and volunteers
live and prosper. To accomplish this, NGF is planning to periodically
conduct special skills, such as computer skills, sharing volunteer programs
to inner-city kids and adults. NGF in collaboration with local medical
professionals and associations is also exploring the options to conduct
free health camps as well in the near future.
NGF also boasts of
an impressive roster of well accomplished, talented and visionary leaders
on its Advisory Board in the United States including: Jonathan Miller,
Ph.D. - Advisor to President & Board, Attorney Stephen Weitz Esq -
Legal Counsel, Usha Vakil - Advisor on Children Education Support Program,
Marjorie Curran MD, Lyle G. Bohlman MD and Thomas Ptak MD, MPH - Advisors
on Health Care Services, Lori Berkey - Advisor on Media and Public Relations,
and Puran Dang - Advisor on Business Relations.
"We are confident
the current team, with leadership and direction from the board of directors
and advisors will be successful in evolving NGF as one of the leading
international socio-charitable organization primarily focusing its efforts
on the subcontinent in the near future", Peo summed up.
Next Generation
Foundation (NGF) is a registered socio-charitable organization striving
to create a revolutionary drive within people to make the social changes
to benefit the food, clothing and educational needs of underprivileged
children. Members of NGF believe that every child across the world should
have the equal and fair opportunity to choose their own destiny and build
a better future for mankind. NGF had taken our first step towards this
belief and started with NGF founders' home, India, by extending help to
the underprivileged children living in this world's largest democracy.
In the long-term NGF would be able to extend charitable help to other
parts of the world. NGF welcomes you join them in this revolution. NGF
is a 501(c)(3) public charity. All contributions to NGF are tax-exempt.
